Practice Highlights:
Elva Castañeda focuses her practice on business litigation and regulatory licensing, advising clients in Nevada’s highly regulated industries. As an attorney in Kaempfer Crowell’s Litigation and Administrative Law Departments, Elva represents corporations, regional enterprises, local businesses, and individuals in a wide range of complex commercial disputes and regulatory matters. She provides strategic, practical counsel to help clients navigate licensing requirements, resolve disputes, and achieve their business objectives.
Elva represents business and commercial clients in a broad range of disputes, including real estate and contract matters, business torts, premises liability, and personal injury defense. She regularly advocates for clients in complex business disputes and commercial litigation before both state and federal courts. Her experience includes representing businesses across a variety of industries, from established corporations to emerging enterprises. Elva is known for her thoughtful, results-oriented approach to litigation and her ability to develop effective strategies that address complex legal challenges. In addition to her commercial litigation practice, Elva volunteers with the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, where she provides pro bono representation to members of the community.
In her administrative practice, Elva advises clients navigating state and local licensing and regulatory frameworks, including those governed by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Nevada Transportation Authority, and local liquor and business licensing boards across Clark County, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson. She represents taverns, restaurants, supper clubs, liquor caterers, liquor stores, grocery stores with liquor sales, mobile food and beverage trucks, and businesses operating within the airport in obtaining, maintaining, and renewing licenses. Her work includes preparing and submitting applications, managing board and commission investigations, and representing clients at public hearings. Elva’s licensing practice spans the hospitality, gaming, entertainment, and retail industries, where she represents both major corporations and locally owned businesses.
Community:
Before joining Kaempfer Crowell, Elva clerked for the Honorable Cristina D. Silva and the Honorable Tierra Jones in the Eighth Judicial District Court. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law, where she served as President of the Student Bar Association, participated in the Immigration Clinic, and received both the Dean’s Award and the Pro Bono Honors Award.
Elva’s commitment to service extends beyond her legal practice. She is actively involved in the legal and local communities through leadership roles in professional organizations, mentorship, and community service initiatives. She serves as Director of the Andale 5K Foundation and is an active member of the Nevada Latino Bar Association, where she previously served on the Board of Directors and as Vice President of Finance. She also previously served as Communications Director for the Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Nevada.
At Kaempfer Crowell, Elva leads the firm’s high school and college internship program and is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of legal professionals. She also mentors law students through the Huellas program with La Voz, the Hispanic/Latino Law Student Association at the William S. Boyd School of Law, and volunteers as a judge for the law school’s moot court competitions.
